Yandex Key is an authenticator that generates one-time passwords (OTP) for various services, including Yandex, Facebook, Google, GitHub, Dropbox, Vk.com, and others that have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. Instead of using your regular password, you can use the unique one-time password generated by Yandex Key to log in to Yandex. Similarly, you can use it to sign in to other services with your usual password.

With Yandex Key, you no longer need to create complex passwords to secure your Yandex account. You just have to remember a sequence of 4 to 16 digits, which will be used by the app to generate a unique one-time password that remains valid for less than a minute. Alternatively, you can use Touch ID for a more convenient login experience.

One of the notable features of Yandex Key is its ability to safeguard your account and protect your personal information from being compromised. The one-time passwords generated by the app are only accessible on your mobile device.

The setup process for Yandex Key is user-friendly and hassle-free. You can manually add accounts by entering the relevant information or easily add them through QR code scanning.

An advantage of Yandex Key is that it doesn't require an internet connection to add accounts or generate one-time passwords. This means you don't have to wait for an SMS with your password or rely on an active internet connection.

Yandex Key offers additional features such as generating six- or eight-digit passwords based on the individual service's requirements. Additionally, it allows you to customize the intervals at which the one-time passwords are updated beyond the standard 30 seconds (based on the service's settings).

In terms of security standards, Yandex Key supports two-factor authentication (also known as two-step verification) for all services that follow RFC 6238 and RFC 4226 protocols, except for services that solely rely on SMS for authentication.

To provide a backup solution, Yandex Key allows you to store your data securely on Yandex's servers. In case something happens to your device, you can retrieve the stored data, which is encrypted using a password known only to you.
